Savery's device had no moving parts and therefore was technically not an engine, and Newcomen's engine in fact did not use steam to produce work. Thereore, it is James Watt that is credited with the invention of the first steam engine, which revolutionized nearly every aspect of human activity.  The video below shows a replica of the first Watt's engine in action.
